Recommend Your Favorite Queer Book
Happy Pride Month, everyone!
This month we asked our book sellers to recommend their favorite Queer book to us. It could be any book, as long as Queerness was a central theme to it! As always, we loved seeing the variety of books folks recommended, from dark romance to memoirs. Check out what everyone said below!
-
Yes, it’s a spicy, why-choose dark romance about a bully getting her just due, but the queer representation mixed with sexual exploration was delicious!
-
I have lovingly dubbed A Little Life “the most depressing book of all time,” but don’t let that scare you off. While it is a long, heavy read rife with trauma and pain against the main character, Jude, it’s also a beautiful story of friendship, love and hope, even in the face of hopelessness. I think about this book constantly, and I always will.
-
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of my favorite queer books It depicts an honest high school experience. it explores identity, friendship, & sexuality in a way that is raw and vulnerable.
It’s a banned book, too! Snag your copy here.

RuPaul has the best one liners and this book is full of them. He blends humor, beauty, practical tips, and his own philosophical take on life and how to not take it so seriously. As the Queen of all queens he knows what he is talking about!
-
The queerness in Martyr! lives comfortably in the background. It is explored through meaningful conversations with the MMC, who we watch experience queer relationships friendships, and learn stories from the past.

Ever heard of Marsha Pay-it-no-mind Johnson? Well now you have. She was one of the earliest LGBTQ+ activists while also being a member of the community. As a transgender woman, she was at the front lines of the Stonewall Riots—rumor has it she threw the first brick. Too few people know about her story and until now she didn’t have a comprehensive biography. With this book, we can pay her, her story, and her work some mind.
