Reading is often considered a solitary thing, but it doesn’t have to be. We want to show you can build a community around literacy by providing a space where anyone can fall in love with writing and books.

Writing Club
Oct. 23, 2025 | 5:30-7 p.m. | FREE
330 Camp Road, Charlotte, NC 28206
Join us for our writing sprints! Writing begins at 5:30 p.m. sharp and we use the pomodoro method to keep us focused. This means we write for 25 minutes, take a 5 minute break and then write for another 25 minutes. At 6:30 there's an optional half hour during which you can have others critique your writing, get feedback or just chat with other Charlotteans about writing, reading and more. Space is limited so please RSVP to reserve your spot - and remember to cancel your spot if you can’t come.

Book Signing with Local Author Patrice Gopo

Silent Book Club

With Silent Book Club, you show up with whatever book you're currently reading, and you sit and read it. It's that simple. From 9:30-10 folks arrive, get food and drinks and chat with each other. Then from 10-11 a.m. we read. Then at 11 a.m. we open our shop for the day! We strongly recommend bringing a chair or blanket to sit on! Seating goes quick! Please note that we meet in the Kinship East lobby (110 Razades Way).

Join us for our in-person and virtual book club meetup! Our October book club is The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones, a Native horror novel with a touch of historical fiction.

We’re hosting a variety of authors who have self published, gone through traditional publishing or have done a hybrid, and they’re ready to share the pros and cons of each! Quicksilver Book Folding Art Event

Join us on Nov. 18 for a special book folding art event to celebrate the release of Brimstone, book #2 in the Fae & Alchemy series by Callie Hart!
Our incredible employee Fayelee will help us fold a butterfly design inspired by events from Quicksilver, the first book in the series. This event is ticketed - tickets will go toward supplies and books you can use, or if you have a particular book you’d like to use, you may bring your own. If you bring your own book, please ensure it is at least 362 pages and at least 21 cm tall. Pages of the books used need to be clean and flat - no deckled/beveled or sloped pages. Books outside of these dimensions will not work for the butterfly design pictured.
The class will take place at our shop from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 18. Please purchase your tickets via credit card - if Apple Pay is used, our site will automatically charge you for shipping. Select “in-store pick-up” at checkout to avoid extra shipping charges.
