Reading is often considered a solitary thing, but it doesn’t have to be. We want to show you can build a community around literacy by providing a space where anyone can fall in love with writing and books.

Writing Club
July 24, 2025 | 5:30-7 p.m. | FREE
330 Camp Road, Charlotte, NC 28206
Join us for our writing sprints! Writing begins at 5:30 p.m. sharp and we use the pomodoro method to keep us focused. This means we write for 25 minutes, take a 5 minute break and then write for another 25 minutes. At 6:30 there's an optional half hour during which you can have others critique your writing, get feedback or just chat with other Charlotteans about writing, reading and more. Space is limited so please RSVP to reserve your spot - and remember to cancel your spot if you can’t come.

Oh, You're Reading Again Book Club

Join us for our in-person and virtual book club meetup! Our July book club is Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. This fiction story with a touch of magical realism as a woman attempts to face the grief of losing her husband by working the night shift at a local aquarium, where she befriends a grumpy old octopus who gives all the others trouble.

Silent Book Club

Come by and join us for our Silent Book Club, where you get the opportunity to quietly read with other Charlotte book worms. Arrive between 6-6:30 to claim your spot, grab food and drinks from nearby restaurants and chat with other folks. From 6:30-7:30 p.m. we silently read our own books! At 7:30 p.m. we will reopen the shop for anyone who would like to browse. No RSVP is necessary - just show up to join in on the fun!

Silent Book Club

With Silent Book Club, you show up with whatever book you're currently reading, and you sit and read it. It's that simple. From 9:30-10 folks arrive, get food and drinks and chat with each other. Then from 10-11 a.m. we read. Then at 11 a.m. we open our shop for the day! Please note: we strongly recommend bringing a chair or blanket to sit on! Seating goes quick!

The story follows two people who meet in an art institute and have resigned themselves to the inevitability of their own lives. After six conversations with a stranger, though, everything changes.
