Recommend Your Favorite Beach Read
We’re now in the thick of summer, which means beach read season!
The thing I love about a “beach read” is that it means something a little different to everyone. Some folks love a tropical book or a rom com - something light, fluffy, fun. Others love the juxtaposition of a thriller or horror in the heat. There’s a reason Summerween is a thing, after all ;) Others enjoy a steamy romance or even a nonfiction to enjoy by the waves.
We asked our book sellers to recommend their favorite beach read, and the variety didn’t disappoint. Check them all out below!

A cozy demon love story for the summer? Why the hell not! This book has all the warm and fuzzies, with great banter, a sprinkle of darkness, and a bigger sprinkle of smut that’s perfect for a solo beach day.

I actually brought Remarkably Bright Creatures on a beach trip with me, so I can attest to the fact that it’s a great beach read. This story is both beautiful and funny, providing some levity to the mystery behind what happened to Tova, the main character’s, son. I absolutely loved the chapters told from the octopus’s point of view as well.

Just for the summer by Abby Jimenez is the perfect beach read because it’s funny, lighthearted, and easy to get lost in. The humor kept me smiling, while the romance and emotional moments made it hard to put down.

I dont like my beach reads to be sunny, happy, and romantic, i want them to be dark but still have ocean elements. So a Gothic fantasy with a sea side manor, mystery, and curses is perfect!

This one had a fun and interesting plot with a fantastic twist at the end and a love story along the way!

A book about a magical Black girl who can control plants and also doubles as a Greek mythological retelling? Be still my squeeing heart! The vibes of this book were perfect for the beach—the ethereal nature of the fantasy combined with the familiar yet otherworldly nature of Greek myth paired SO well with the sun, sand, and waves. I devoured this book in the time I was reading it on the beach.

The ultimate heatwave escape. Emily Wilde is cozy academic mystery at its best: low stakes, slow-burn banter, and faeries that are genuinely uncanny, not just pretty.
