July Book + Bottle Pick
Brought to you by HEX Coffee, Kitchen and Natural Wines and That’s Novel Books.
Each month That’s Novel book sellers select an exciting new title they’d like to highlight, and then our partners at HEX select the perfect natural wine to pair with the book. This bundle allows you to get both a fantastic read and a scrumptious bottle of wine at a discounted price!
Our July book pick is: The Wedding Week by Aisha Saeed
It's been three years since Hena Mirza saw her family. Three years since her fiancé mysteriously vanished on their wedding day. Three years since everyone decided she was to blame.
When her younger sister, Lulu, calls with shocking news—she’s getting married in forty-eight hours and their mother is dying—Hena’s plan is simple: fly home, say goodbye, and leave before she reopens old wounds. But nothing about the trip is simple. This isn’t a one-day event. It’s an eight-day desi wedding with a guest list that eerily mirrors the one from her own failed nuptials. And though Hena feels unexpected sparks fly with two men in the wedding party—a childhood friend and a newcomer unfamiliar with her history—the remaining guests quickly make it clear: No one is happy she’s back.
Then Lulu’s carefully planned itinerary goes awry. Hena initially dismisses the strange incidents, but as days pass and the sabotage escalates, it becomes clear that someone is determined to destroy the wedding, just as Hena’s was destroyed years ago. To survive this week, she’ll have to uncover the culprit behind these attacks . . . before the past she’s tried to outrun finally catches up to her.
Our July wine pick is: Zanasi Lambrusco di Sorbara Rosato
I think one thing I should get out there right off the bat is that I LOVE a Lambrusco. When I was trying to pair a wine with this month’s pick I wanted to flirt with the broad stroke aspects of this book. Wedding (or any celebration) = bubbles plus the idea that in this mystery thriller nothing is what it seems at first glance and then boom, I had it. Lambrusco.
Lambrusco di Sorbara is an interesting wine because on the nose you get so much juicy bright strawberry sweetness but the body itself is crisp and dry with a perfect amount of acidity.
With a book that’s going to keep you on your toes this is an enjoyable wine that does the same.
All orders will be available for local pick-up at That’s Novel Books during store hours. Pickup for July’s pick will be available beginning July 7, once The Wedding Week is released.
